Valter Longo

Valter Longo, PhD.

Founder of L-Nutra and creator of the Fasting Mimicking Diet® (FMD®), Dr. Valter Longo is a professor at the USC Davis School of Gerontology with a joint appointment in the department of Biological Sciences. He also serves as the director of the USC Longevity Institute—one of the most respected aging and gerontology research institutes in the world. It was there that Dr. Longo and his team developed the revolutionary nutrition program known as the Fasting Mimicking Diet (also known by some as the Longo Diet), after making a series of incredible discoveries that indicated specific eating approaches can promote cell-based self-repair and rejuvenation—a process shown to contribute to increased lifespan in various animal tests.

The ground-breaking nutritional technologies—like the Fasting Mimicking Diet—discovered in the lab of Dr. Longo are the result of 25+ years of research, proof of concept testing, and preclinical and clinical trials to demonstrate the safety and efficacy of a periodic fast.

Today, the world renowned biogerontologist and cell biologist continues to pioneer nutri-technologies that mimic and enhance the effects of fasting, with the aim of achieving optimal health among the human population, and slowing or halting the onset of serious, age-related diseases such as diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer’s and coronary disease.

Dr. Longo donates all of the profits from his shares in the L-Nutra company to the Creates Cures Foundation, which is dedicated to helping find low-cost integrative therapies for the prevention and treatment of major diseases.
